Our day started with a muddy hike in the rain. The hike satisfied all five senses in one morning.
Light rain massaged our skins and rinsed off the sweat. Silence amplified the symphony of birds chipping, river roaring, flies buzzing, hourses chewing, shoes squashing mud and tree moving in the wind. The smell of pine tree and cow dung followed us the whole way except for when we were near villages and the aroma of wood burning took over. Emerging from trails covered by tall bushes, we were met with stunning open fields of grasses with high mountains as backdrops. Purple flowers carelessly dotted all over. Next to temples and villages, prayer wheels tirelessly turned by the streams that run through them. Finally, a picnic next to the river stimulated our taste buds with the must have chili cheese and other cheese and curry dishes.
After some more sight seeings, we were promised a game of archery, a traditional Bhutanese sport usually competed by men in gho. I teamed up with the guide and erik with the driver. Unfortunate for my team, erik wrapped up the final round with a much needed one point by both teams. Now my left arm can use a massage.
