Fish river canyon is arguably the second largest canyon in the world after the Grand canyon. Unfortunately, day hike down the canyon was not allowed so we could only see it from the top.
But what impressed me the most was our drive two nights ago towards the Ai-Ais resort, which is at the bottom of the end of the canyon. Just when I dread the eight hour drive from the dessert wondering if we wouldn't be able to appreciate anything else after the magnificent of the dessert, we were mesmerized by the scenary of the last part of the drive.
It was around sunset. We drove through rocks and hills and landscape that is only imaginable in fantasy stories. The sun was setting and it had been hours of land without seeing a car or a house. It was as though we were driving towards the end of the world.
