7 July 2011 - arrived Bhutan

Our hotel at Thimpu, the only capital in the world without traffic light because Bhutanese found them too impersonal. They prefer being directed by traffic police.

6 July 2011 - leaving Hong Kong

After a few days of eating and shopping and seeing people, we are now heading to the next destination.

Weather report says Bhutan is raining everyday. Romantic.

3 July 2011 - family day

A little bit of ferry riding, a little bit of hiking and a lot of seafood eating with family, finished with card games playing with my brother and sis-in-law made a satisfactory day.

Tonight, we are the first sleep over guests at my brother's new home in the country side. We will sleep well on the 43rd floor with a beautiful view outside.

2 July 2011 - in Hong Kong

Nice to be home even if it is 27C at 6am and I am sweating like a doggy as soon as I came out of air conditioning.

28 June 2011 - last night in Namibia

After 3500km on the road the last 3 weeks, our left-side-gravel-road driving skills had improved infinitely. We arrived at the capital today ready to fly out tomorrow.

We couldn't believe we've been away from home for more than a month already. It's been easier than we thought and more enjoyable than we expected.

We loved the beauty of Namibian landscapes and attractions. Unfortunately, we had to sacrifice not going to the north of the country to limit the amount of driving and the whole Namibian population seem to reside in the north. Although it has been fun talking to other fellow travellers, we didn't have much chances to interact with locals who weren't guides or waitresses or hotel staff. That's a pity. And the few photos I did take in a "real" town were in the roll that I lost... Seems like we simply must come back someday. =)

26 June 2011 - Fish river canyon

Fish river canyon is arguably the second largest canyon in the world after the Grand canyon. Unfortunately, day hike down the canyon was not allowed so we could only see it from the top.

But what impressed me the most was our drive two nights ago towards the Ai-Ais resort, which is at the bottom of the end of the canyon. Just when I dread the eight hour drive from the dessert wondering if we wouldn't be able to appreciate anything else after the magnificent of the dessert, we were mesmerized by the scenary of the last part of the drive.

It was around sunset. We drove through rocks and hills and landscape that is only imaginable in fantasy stories. The sun was setting and it had been hours of land without seeing a car or a house. It was as though we were driving towards the end of the world.

23 June 2011 - last night in the desert

Our leg muscles have thoroughly strengthened (or exhausted) after hours of hiking in sand dunes every day. The Namib dessert at Sossusvlei completely lived up to our expectations of its magic. The moonless stary sky every night had been an added bonus.

At the same time, I am glad that any more hiking for the rest of the trip will be on solid and erik cannot drag me up anymore top of tunes. My poor legs are giving out.
